Liz Pohland is a Virginia-based watercolor artist who is passionate about fluid painting and experimenting with new techniques, challenging herself with abstraction, impressionism, and realism. She finds watercolor to be an exciting medium—unpredictable and fascinating—both bold and electric and also delicate and transparent. While most watercolorists begin a painting with pencil sketches, Liz often draws with her paint, relying on her instincts and impressions about the subject. She enjoys using imaginative, nontraditional approaches and materials in her work. Liz’s watercolors often reflect everyday items in her surroundings, her travels, and her interest in nature and landscape.
