Growing up I relished my times in summer camp and art class at school where I learned to do creative projects. I have been painting for the last 25 years. I started classes at Northern Virginia Community College in 1995 where I painted in oils, acrylics, and watercolors.
In 2016 I retired from Fairfax County Community Services Board and begun taking classes at the Workhouse Art Center. Classes there focused on watercolors, acrylics, and collage.
I work mostly in acrylic mixed media and do some assemblages. I paint with watercolors in an art journal and enjoy photography a great deal. My painting is done either from my photographs or spontaneous renderings which usually involve flowers, butterflies, birds, trees, and sunsets. Working in various mediums enhances my creativity.
I enjoy traveling to Europe, various beaches, and the mountains of West Virginia. I get inspiration from nature and paint subjects with butterflies since my life is continuously evolving. Recently my paintings and collages reflected my love of nature, places I have been and passions. I desire to create pieces that give a sense of tranquility to the viewer.
My mixed media and assemblages include upcycled materials like discarded papers, foil, magazines, and newspapers. I also recreate pieces by repurposing substrates.
